""Police Arrest Township Man on Burglary & Theft Charges

       On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, police arrested 41 year-old Christopher L. Amato of Cedar Grove on charges relating to the burglary of a neighbor’s residence on Anderson Parkway and the theft of jewelry.  Incidents leading to Amato’s arrest began at 10:26 a.m. that morning when the victim called police reporting a burglary.  The victim reported that upon returning home, another neighbor informed him he observed Amato enter the victim’s home through a ground floor window at 8:30 a.m. and then exit through the same window about fifteen minutes later.  The victim reported that he immediately observed a ring and a diamond earring missing from his wife’s jewelry.  A subsequent investigation led to Amato’s arrest and the recovery of the stolen ring, the diamond stud has not been accounted for at the present time.  Amato was processed on charges of burglary and theft at police headquarters and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark in lieu of $15,000 Bond/10% Cash Bail Option.  Ptl. Robert McDermott and Sgt. Eileen O’Toole were the investigating officers.
